| First of all I would like to welcome you to my site as it is always nice to have company. So let me first explain how I ended up where I am today. I have been showing dogs for 30+ years and during that time I have accomplished many things. In the early part of my career I was involved in Junior Showmanship and did quite a bit of winning in the Colorado area. I was the top Junior in Colorado for 3 years and was honored at the 1979 Westminster Kennel Club, By The Afghan Hound Club of America as the top winning junior in the nation with an Afghan Hound during 1978. When I started handling for clients at the age of ten, I knew that this is what I wanted to do and continued handling professionally for 24 years. I have a true respect for the youth of our sport and do realize that they are our future. I have held several seminars on Conformation handling as well as Junior Showmanship. I judged the ASCA National Junior Finals held in Loveland, Colorado in 1990. My hope is that the amount of children which participate in Junior Showmanship continues to grow as these are the people we will be watching to develop our breeds in the future. I have shown many different breeds over the years but Standard Poodles, Bedlington Terriers and Bloodhonds is what I grew up with. My family bred and showed Standard Poodles when I was young and it is the breed that gave us our true start in the dog world. Our family also had had Bloodhounds, and one in particular was top ranked for 2 years, Ch. Sims Wrinklebrow Lyam Berry. He was owner handled and took a Group 1 at 11 months of age. This was his first Group placement but he went on to take many more. Ch. Dovern's Pamela of McDanjo's was our first Bedlington Terrier and she took a Group 3 at nine months of age. These dogs were the gateway to me handling many nationally top ranked dogs. I have always enjoyed the fine conformation of all breeds and after the 24 years of professional handling I have turned my focus to judging. I now judge ASCA and several breeds in AKC. I have always loved the Australian Shepherd and have followed this breed for many years. My father became an ASCA judge in the 1970's and I always went with him to look, study and admire the breed. It was the breed I wanted, but felt it was unfair to the dog to travel to AKC shows and not be able to participate, but only sit and watch other dogs get the "special" attention. So as soon as the breed was accepted by AKC I purchased my first boy, AKC/ASCA Ch. Trueluc's X-Posed of Dasha. This is the breed I will live with and devote my work to for the rest of my time. I guess my motto is "A house without an Aussie is not a home" Sincerely, Sharon |
